Upgradation of sugarcane bagasse lignin: Fractionation to cyclic alcohols production

چکیده

Reductive catalytic fractionation (RCF) is a new class of process that produces mono phenolics close-to-theoretical maximum yield by preserving the biomass polysaccharides as solid residues under hydrogen atmosphere or transfer conditions. Herein, hydrous ruthenium oxide deposited on carbon (HRO@C) and HY-zeolite (HRO@HYZ) catalysts are prepared characterized different analytical techniques (TGA, TPD, TPR, XRD, TEM, XPS, physisorption chemisorption). Both have been used for RCF sugarcane bagasse (SCB). Effects catalyst acidity, reaction time, pressure, temperature, solvent SCB investigated. Solid after FT-IR, TGA, fibertec to identify effects conditions lignin-first delignification efficiency (LFDE). High acidity HRO@HYZ favors high degree LFDE (81.2 %) than HRO@C (55.8 %). However, alkyl-substituted phenolic monomers (ASPMs) selectivity 69 % 55.7 HRO@HYZ, respectively, same NMR GC-FID/GC-MS analysis indicate presence ASPMs in resulted lignin bio-oil. Moreover, fractionated bio-oil upgradation upgraded product confirms > 95 conversion bio-oil, which over 90 towards alkylated cyclic alcohols. • Catalysts with acidities were investigated SCB. favours delignification. Extraction, Purification, and Characterization of Lignin Fractions from Sugarcane Bagasse

Three-step extraction of lignin fractions from ball-milled sugarcane bagasse (SCB) was studied with 96% dioxane, 50% dioxane, and 80% dioxane containing 1% NaOH at boiling temperature followed by purification to remove hemicelluloses. The total yields of hemicelluloses and lignin were 15.8% and 7.2% based on dried SCB, respectively. In the first step, 5.1% lignin (70.8% of the total extracted l...

Extraction of Hemicellulose and Lignin from Sugarcane Bagasse for Biopolymer Films: Green Process

A hemicellulose is any of several heteropolymers , such as arabinoxylans, present along with cellulose in almost all plant cell walls. Hemicellulose has a random, amorphous structure with little strength. It is easily hydrolyzed by dilute acid or base as well as myriad hemicellulase enzymes. In this study, lignin and hemicellulose was extracted from sugarcane bagasse using the ammonium hydrolys...

Acid hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse for lactic acid production.

In order to use sugarcane bagasse as a substrate for lactic acid production, optimum conditions for acid hydrolysis of the bagasse were investigated. After lignin extraction, the conditions were varied in terms of hydrochloric (HCl) or sulfuric (H(2)SO(4)) concentration (0.5-5%, v/v), reaction time (1-5h) and incubation temperature (90-120 degrees C). The maximum catalytic efficiency (E) was 10...

Limitation of cellulose accessibility and unproductive binding of cellulases by pretreated sugarcane bagasse lignin

BACKGROUND The effectiveness of the enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose in plant cell wall is strongly influenced by the access of enzymes to cellulose, which is at least in part limited by the presence of lignin. Although physicochemical treatments preceding the enzymatic catalysis significantly overcome this recalcitrance, the residual lignin can still play a role in the process. Lignin is sugg...

Cellulosic Ethanol Production from Sugarcane Bagasse without Enzymatic Saccharification

Sugarcane processing generates a large volume of bagasse. Disposal of bagasse is critical for both agricultural profitability and environmental protection. Sugarcane bagasse is a renewable resource that can be used to produce ethanol and many other value-added products. In this study, we demonstrate that cane processed bagasse could be used to produce fuel grade ethanol without saccharification...
